FAQs
-
Our initial consultation rate is $300/hour plus HST. We schedule your consultation for one hour, but sometimes you may need more or less time. A minimum 30-minute fee applies for all consultations, after which the billed time is prorated in tenths of an hour. For our coaching services, limited scope services, litigation services, and will packages, please contact us to obtain our current rates.
-
We offer coaching and limited scope services to clients anywhere in Ontario, and even clients outside of Ontario who have cases started in Ontario. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer full representation in court for matters outside of Ottawa.
-
Our lawyers mostly work remotely, primarily meeting clients via Teams videoconference, which allows us to assist clients all over Ontario, and saves our clients from travelling to our downtown office. That said, we can accommodate in-person meetings as well at our office on Somerset Street in downtown Ottawa.
-
We accept Legal Aid Ontario certificates for child protection matters where the Children’s Aid Society is involved in the court proceeding as a party. We also accept two-hour domestic violence consultation certificates and six-hour mediation certificates from Legal Aid Ontario. We are not currently accepting Legal Aid certificates for any other family law matters.
-
Yes, everyone at our firm who provides legal coaching is a family law lawyer. That said, if you retain us for coaching services or limited scope services, we are not “your lawyer” to the other party or to the court, but rather we provide you with legal assistance and guidance in the background to help you in representing yourself.
